The Storms of Our Lives
Storms occupy a place in our minds, even our technically sophisticated minds, that is akin to magic. The rapidly spinning vortex of the tornado, with air rising from its base and exiting at the top of its funnel, represents one of the most violent phenomena on earth.
For those who survive, tornadoes serve as the demarcation of their life.

It's the perfect metaphor for the painful, life changing, events that scar our lives. The terror of the tornado is that it can upend your life in an instant. There is very little warning. It can enact a kind of total disruption in life that few other things can. This is why I find tornadoes the perfect illustration of the metaphorical storms we endure in our lives. What life event(s) kicked you into a completely unexpected existence? I believe these events deserve greater exploration and reverence in how they shape what it means to be purely human.
